Honor Code
Last Updated: February 5, 2026
By enrolling in a Udacity program or Online Course, or otherwise accessing the Udacity platform or interacting with any of the Udacity Services, you agree to abide by the following Udacity Honor Code, which we created to ensure the best learning experience for you and for all other Udacity Students (as defined in our Terms of Use(opens in a new tab)). Students found to be acting in violation of the terms set forth may be asked to leave their program without a refund. By using Udacity, you also agree to our Terms of Use, including the User Conduct Policy, and, if you participate in any of our communities, the Community Code of Conduct. Please conduct yourself responsibly and employ common-sense when participating in any Udacity community or program. You further understand and agree that all decisions regarding participation, graduation, and awarding of verified certificates will be made by Udacity in its sole discretion.
You agree that you:
-
will not harass other Students, Attendees, Visitors, or Udacity Employees;
-
will not cheat on any assignment, projects, or assessments, as applicable, for the Online Courses. For example, giving or receiving unpermitted aid on, or copying or sharing of, another User’s (as defined in the Terms of Use) projects or other class work (or any portion thereof);
-
will not plagiarize (a form of cheating) the work of others. For example, using another person’s original work (e.g., code, language, formulas, etc.) in your assignments, projects, or assessments. For more information on plagiarism, see our full definition and examples here(opens in a new tab).
-
will not post online any secured testing materials, as applicable;
-
will comply with the requirements of the specific applicable code of conduct, if any, relating directly to a Udacity program in which such you are enrolled; and
-
will notify the instructors immediately if you become aware of any other User cheating or breaching this Honor Code or the Terms of Use.
Use of Artificial Intelligence Tools
You also agree that you will use artificial intelligence-based tools in the manner described below.
1. Permitted Use of AI Tools Udacity recognizes that artificial intelligence–based tools (including, but not limited to, generative AI, code assistants, and automated content generators) may be valuable learning aids when used responsibly. Students may use AI tools to support learning activities such as:
-
Brainstorming ideas or approaches
-
Explaining concepts or providing high-level guidance
-
Debugging or reviewing student-created code
-
Improving clarity, grammar, or structure of student-authored work
Any such use must be supplementary and must not replace the student’s own independent thinking, analysis, or execution.
2. Prohibited Use of AI Tools Students may not use AI tools to produce, in whole or in substantial part, assignments, projects, assessments, or other submissions that are required to demonstrate the student’s own knowledge, skills, or competencies. Prohibited uses include, but are not limited to:
-
Submitting AI-generated content as original work
-
Allowing AI tools to complete coding projects, written assignments, or assessments on the student’s behalf
-
Using AI tools to bypass learning objectives, grading criteria, or assessment safeguards
-
Misrepresenting AI-generated output as the student’s own work
All submitted work must accurately reflect the student’s personal effort and understanding.
3. Disclosure Requirements Where permitted by course-specific guidelines, students may be required to disclose the use of AI tools in connection with an assignment, including the nature and extent of such use. Failure to provide accurate disclosure may be treated as a violation of Udacity’s academic integrity standards.
4. Academic Integrity and Enforcement Udacity reserves the right to investigate suspected misuse of AI tools. If Udacity determines, in its sole discretion, that a student has violated these AI usage requirements or otherwise engaged in academic dishonesty, Udacity may take one or more of the following actions:
-
Issue a warning or require resubmission of work
-
Assign a failing grade for the assignment or course
-
Revoke course completion credit or certifications
-
Suspend or terminate the student’s access to Udacity services
-
Permanently remove the student from Udacity programs
These actions may be taken without refund and in accordance with Udacity’s broader enforcement and termination rights.
5. No Circumvention of Learning Outcomes Students may not use AI tools in any manner that circumvents or undermines the learning outcomes, assessment integrity, or educational purpose of Udacity programs. Acceptable uses of AI may evolve as technology, industry expectations, and educational standards change. Udacity reserves the right to update this Honor Code and related policies at any time. Continued participation in any Udacity program constitutes acceptance of the current Honor Code.
If you are registered or enrolled as a Student in, or are otherwise attending, an Online Course through an Educational Partner or other institution with its own policy regarding student and/or employee conduct or an "honor code," those terms may also apply to you.
Failure to adhere to this Honor Code impairs the integrity of our learning environment and harms the value of our Udacity programs for our Students. If we determine that you have violated this Honor Code, we reserve the right to take any action we deem appropriate, including, but not limited to, rejecting your submissions or removing you from our programs with no refund.
